Ready, Set, Read 2005-2006

The HIKE Foundation partnered with Chili's Bar and Grill and Coca Cola to launch its 3rd annual Ready, Set, Read Program (RSR), a program designed to encourage elementary age students to read on Tuesday, October 11th.

Approximately 450 children at Richardson Elementary School in North Saint Paul gathered for a school assembly to launch this year's program. Matt was the special guest at the assembly. He talked about the importance of reading and his love for reading as well. Participants in the RSR program agree to read for one hour a week in addition to normal reading assignments from school for eight weeks. At the end of the eight weeks, students who complete the program will be given a gift certificate for a kid's meal at Chili's and a Coke product.

Before the general assembly, Matt had a private reading session with the 3rd graders from Erin Slaikeu's class. Students were able to ask Matt questions listen as Matt read a book to the class.
